August 2, 2025: India will resume Day 3 of the fifth and final Test against England with a crucial 52-run lead, as they stand at 75/2. Opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, on a counter-attacking 51 not out, will be joined at the crease by nightwatchman Akash Deep (4*) to build on the momentum gained from a dramatic Day 2.

India’s bowlers orchestrated a magnificent fightback on Day 2, a day that saw fortunes swing wildly. After being bowled out for 224, India looked to be on the back foot as England’s openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, blazed to an explosive 92-run partnership. However, the Indian pace attack roared back with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna leading the charge. Both bowlers claimed four wickets each to trigger a stunning collapse, eventually bowling England out for 247 and restricting their first-innings lead to a mere 23 runs.
With Jaiswal’s quickfire half-century erasing the deficit and putting India ahead, the stage is set for a pivotal Day 3, where India will look to extend their lead and take control of a match they must win to level the series.
