India-UK Relationship Set For “Bigger, Broader, Deeper” Expansion Under Vision 2035 Roadmap

NEW DELHI – The India-UK Vision 2035 roadmap, which was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his UK counterpart, Keir Starmer, during PM Modi’s recent visit to the UK, is set to bring about big changes in the UK-India relationship. Christina Scott, the Deputy British High Commissioner to India, said the same thing in an interview with media on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

Scott stressed that the goal of the new project is to build a “deeper and broader partnership” between the two countries. “This is a tremendously exciting time for the UK-India partnership. “I really liked how much energy and hope both Prime Ministers showed last week. I’m sure that under Vision 2035, our relationship will grow even bigger, wider, and deeper,” she said.

The India-UK Vision 2035 shows that both nations are still committed to making the most of a stronger partnership. It shows how determined they are to work together not just for their own growth and success, but also to make the world a better, safer, and more sustainable place in the face of rapid global changes. This new strategic plan, which replaces the old Roadmap 2030, lays out defined strategic goals and milestones for a number of areas, including as commerce, technology, defense, climate, and education.

Scott went on to say how important Prime Minister Modi’s recent trip to the UK was, saying that the main goal was to sign the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries. The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which was officially signed on July 24, 2025, is a big deal because it will greatly increase trade between the two countries by getting rid of tariffs on a wide range of goods and services and making it easier for professionals to move around.

Scott specifically mentioned education as an important area of attention in the Vision 2035 statement, in addition to the FTA. This shows that both India and the UK are very committed to giving kids more chances to learn.

“We were quite happy that Prime Minister Modi came to the UK last week. One main reason he came was to sign the Free Trade Agreement between our two countries. Scott went on to say, “The two Prime Ministers also released a document called Vision 2035, which lists all the areas where we will work together. One of the five areas that was highlighted was education. This shows how ambitious both governments are to work together for the benefit of learners everywhere, whether they are in the UK or India.”

The “India-UK Vision 2035” document says that both countries will build on strong foundations to create an intellectual cooperation that can respond to new opportunities and keep up with how quickly technology is changing. The goal of this pillar of cooperation is to improve collaboration in research and education, which will lead to a pool of skilled and forward-looking workers. Programs that enhance research and innovation, utilize AI, improve next-generation telecoms, and create a green skills alliance are expected to equip this talent pool to tackle global problems and help create a safe and sustainable future for everyone.

The shared vision shows that the two countries are changing their strategies and making a long-term commitment to a “BRISK partnership” based on Business, Research, Innovation, Science, Technology, and Knowledge. This will lead to more collaboration and innovation between India and the UK in the future.
