India To Present Evidence Against Pakistan at UN Over Terror Links; Seeks TRF Sanctions

New Delhi [India], May 11: India is preparing to send a delegation to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to present new evidence implicating Pakistan’s involvement in cross-border terrorism, sources confirmed on Saturday.

The focus will be on the 1267 Sanctions Committee, a critical body formed under UNSC Resolution 1267 (1999), which oversees sanctions on groups linked to ISIL (Da’esh), Al-Qaida, and their affiliates. The committee is expected to meet next week.

India is expected to push for the designation of The Resistance Front (TRF)—a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy—as a terrorist entity, and for the imposition of sanctions, travel bans, and asset freezes on its members.

Sources allege that Pakistan shielded TRF by preventing its name from appearing in a recent UNSC statement condemning the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians, including a Nepali national. Despite TRF publicly claiming responsibility twice, its omission from the UN statement has raised questions over Pakistan’s diplomatic role in protecting terror proxies.

TRF emerged after the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and is involved in targeted killings, grenade attacks, recruitment, and weapons smuggling in the region.

The international outreach comes amid Operation Sindoor, India’s ongoing military operation launched on May 7, which targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). Indian officials have described the campaign as a strategic shift in counter-terrorism posture.

“Operation Sindoor is not over. We are in the new normal. Pakistan has to accept this; it cannot be business as usual,” sources told ANI.

Despite a brief ceasefire agreement on Saturday, Pakistan violated the truce with drone incursions and border firing, prompting India to issue a stern warning. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that India’s armed forces are under clear instructions to respond strongly to any repeat violations along the International Border and Line of Control (LoC).

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump welcomed the de-escalation, calling it a “heroic decision” and crediting U.S. diplomacy for helping facilitate the ceasefire. However, he reiterated his offer to mediate the Kashmir dispute, an idea India has repeatedly rejected, asserting that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and not subject to third-party intervention.
