India Successfully Tests Agni-Prime Missile From Rail-Based Launcher

NEW DELHI – India has successfully test-fired the improved Agni-Prime missile, which is an intermediate-range ballistic missile, from a mobile launcher system on a train. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) launched the rocket on Thursday. This is a big step forward for the country’s defense capabilities.

Rajnath Singh, the Minister of Defense, called the launch a “first-of-its-kind” success and lauded the new rail-based mobile launcher that was made for it. The Agni-Prime missile is the next iteration of India’s Agni series. It is made to fly up to 2,000 kilometers.

This successful flight test puts India in a small group of countries that have made a “canisterized launch system from an on-the-move rail network.” This technology makes the missile easier to move and more flexible, which makes it a very important tool for India’s Strategic Forces Command (SFC).

Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO, the SFC, and the Armed Forces on the successful test and stressed how important the development is for the country’s safety. India is working to modernize its defense arsenal, and the Agni-Prime missile will replace previous missiles in the Agni series.
