“Congratulate FM @IgliHasani and the Government and people of Albania on their Liberation Day.”
He expressed optimism about the strengthening of bilateral ties, highlighting that the establishment of a new Indian resident mission in Tirana would enhance cooperation between the two nations.
India and Albania have recently deepened their diplomatic engagements. On October 31, Bilateral Consultations were held in Tirana. A post by the Ministry of External Affairs on X noted:
“Both sides discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. India opened its resident Mission in Albania in August 2024.”
During these discussions, both countries reviewed political relations, trade, cultural connections, and people-to-people exchanges, while exploring avenues for international collaboration.
India and Albania have shared diplomatic ties since 1956. Over the years, their relationship has evolved positively, marked by cooperation across multilateral forums and increasing bilateral trade. Key traded goods include petroleum products, engineering items, pharmaceuticals, and construction materials.
Cultural exchanges further enhance their bond. Programs like the ITEC scholarship for Albanian students and the annual celebration of International Yoga Day have fostered mutual understanding.
Recent high-level interactions reflect the growing engagement between the two countries. Notable meetings include External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s discussion with Albanian Foreign Minister Igli Hasani during the Raisina Dialogue on February 22, 2024, and Albania’s Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, Albania Tole, attending the Voice of the Global South Summit on November 14, 2023.
India’s proactive approach, symbolized by its new mission in Tirana, signals a commitment to nurturing a dynamic partnership with Albania.
