India welcomed the New Year with dazzling celebrations, massive countdown parties and vibrant public gatherings across major cities, even as authorities strengthened security arrangements to ensure peaceful and incident-free festivities.
In metropolitan hubs including Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, thousands of people thronged iconic hotspots such as India Gate, Connaught Place and Marine Drive to celebrate the arrival of 2026, creating a lively and electrifying atmosphere.
To manage the huge turnout, state governments issued traffic advisories, enforced safety guidelines for restaurants and hotels, and deployed additional police forces, particularly in high-footfall zones. Restaurants, hotels and party venues also witnessed full-house celebrations as people gathered with friends and families.
