India Provides Injury Update On Hardik Pandya And Abhishek Sharma Ahead Of Asia Cup Final

NEW DELHI – India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel has given an update on the health of all-rounder Hardik Pandya and opener Abhishek Sharma after India’s exciting Super Over win over Sri Lanka. Morkel said that both players had cramps during the game, but he promised that the squad is doing everything it can to help them recover quickly before the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan.

Morkel told the media at the Dubai International Stadium, “Both of them had trouble with cramps during the game.” Hardik, I know we’ll see each other tonight and tomorrow morning, and then we’ll decide. But they were both merely having trouble with cramping during the game.

Hardik Pandya hurt himself: Hardik Pandya walked off the field after bowling just one over in Sri Lanka’s innings. He was spotted holding his left hamstring. He got the important wicket of Kusal Mendis on the opening delivery of the over. He didn’t go back to the field for the rest of the game.

Abhishek Sharma’s Pain: Abhishek Sharma too looked like he was in pain. He held onto his right thigh in the ninth over and then left the field in the tenth. Both players had to have treatment for the rest of the inning, which included ice and pickle juice to help with their cramps.

Morkel said that Abhishek Sharma is “fine,” which is good news for the Indian side even if they lost.

Morkel also said that the team would not be training on Saturday, September 27, the day before the Asia Cup final versus Pakistan. The team management is putting the players’ rest and rehabilitation first after the match versus Sri Lanka went into a Super Over and ran much past its allotted duration.

“The most important thing for the boys is to get some rest. They are already in an ice bath. The recovery began right after the game. Morkel stated, “The best way to get better is to sleep and stay off your feet.”

He also said that the players would get private pool sessions and massages to assist them get “mentally ready for the big battle on Sunday.” “It’s a quick turnaround,” Morkel said, “and playing smart is going to be the key.” There will definitely not be any training.

On Sunday, September 28, at the Dubai International Stadium, India will play Pakistan in the highly anticipated Asia Cup final.
