India Players Shine In ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup’s ‘Team Of The Tournament’

Kuala Lumpur [Malaysia]: Four Indian players have been named in the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup’s Team of the Tournament, according to an official media release by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

India’s Gongadi Trisha stole the spotlight as the Player of the Tournament, amassing 309 runs133 runs more than the next best player in the competition. In the final, Trisha displayed her all-round brilliance by scoring 44 runs* and taking three wickets for 15 runs, leading India to a dominant nine-wicket win.

Joining Trisha in the prestigious XI are fellow opener G Kamalini, who scored 143 runs in the tournament, and Indian bowlers Aayushi Shukla and Vaishnavi Sharma.

Vaishnavi Sharma: A Bowling Sensation

Vaishnavi Sharma’s standout performance in the tournament saw her take 17 wickets, the most by any player, including a crucial performance in the final against South Africa.

Aayushi Shukla’s Impressive Run

Aayushi Shukla also impressed with the ball, finishing second in the wickets tally with 14 wickets, playing a crucial role in India’s success.

Key Players from Other Countries

South Africa’s Kayla Reyneke was named captain after taking 11 wickets. Alongside her, Jemma Botha was chosen as the opening batter, following her pivotal 37 runs off 24 balls in the semi-final against Australia.

From England, Davina Perrin, the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament with 176 runs, and wicket-keeper Katie Jones were also included in the team.

Australia’s Caoimhe Bray made it to number five in the team’s order, while Puja Mahato, the Nepal captain, added her all-round performance of 70 runs and nine wickets to the team.

Sri Lanka’s Chamodi Praboda, with nine wickets, rounds off the team as the top bowler from her side.
