In a landmark diplomatic move, India is preparing to send an all-party delegation of MPs to key world capitals to expose Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism, especially in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi welcomed the Centre’s initiative, saying it is essential that the international community is made aware of the chain of events following the Pahalgam attack.
“MPs from across parties will go to various countries to present India’s case and show the world how Pakistan continues to aid and shelter terrorists,” Tyagi told media on Friday.
Tyagi also praised Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s resolve, stating that the continuation of Operation Sindoor demonstrates India’s commitment to rooting out terror at its source.
“This is not a war, but a targeted strike against those who promote terrorism. The Congress party is confused in its stance,” Tyagi added.
Major Diplomatic Outreach Set for May 23 Onward
According to sources, India will dispatch around 40 multi-party parliamentarians, divided into seven teams, for a 10-day diplomatic tour starting May 23. These teams are expected to visit influential nations including:
- United States
- United Kingdom
- United Arab Emirates
- South Africa
- Japan
This will be the first such effort by the Indian government involving MPs from various political parties to collectively present India’s position on Kashmir and cross-border terrorism.
The initiative is being coordinated by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, with support from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Home Affairs, and other key departments.
An MEA official will accompany each delegation, armed with detailed documents and evidence highlighting Pakistan’s support for terrorism and India’s retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor.
Operation Sindoor: India’s Direct Response
On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians. The operation included precision air and drone strikes in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and inside Pakistani territory, reportedly eliminating over 100 terrorists.
Delegates Likely to Join the Tour
Several MPs across party lines have been approached to participate, including:
- Shashi Tharoor (INC)
- Manish Tewari (INC)
- Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena – UBT)
- Sasmit Patra (BJD)
- Sanjay Jha (JD(U))
- Salman Khurshid (Former EAM, INC)
- Aparajita Sarangi (BJP)
The upcoming tour is expected to strengthen India’s global narrative against Pakistan’s terror infrastructure and demonstrate rare bipartisan unity on the issue of national security.
