The Union Home Ministry issued a statement declaring the mourning period from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025.
- During this time, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all locations in India where it is regularly hoisted.
- Indian missions and high commissions abroad will also fly the national flag at half-mast on the day of the funeral.
- No official entertainment will take place during the mourning period.
