External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday launched the official website, theme and logo for BRICS 2026, which will be held under India’s chairship. Union Ministers of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita and Kirti Vardhan Singh were present at the launch event.
BRICS brings together 11 major emerging markets and developing countries — Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. The grouping serves as a key platform for consultation and cooperation on issues of global and regional importance, including political, economic and development challenges.

Theme of India’s BRICS Chairship
The theme of India’s BRICS chairship is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
According to an official statement, the theme reflects a people-centric and humanity-first approach, articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2025 Rio Summit.
The theme underlines India’s belief that cooperation among BRICS members can help address shared global challenges in a balanced, inclusive and sustainable manner, while strengthening capacities and promoting innovation for collective growth.
BRICS 2026 Logo: Tradition Meets Modernity
The logo unveiled for India’s BRICS chairship blends tradition with modern design.
- The petals radiate the vibrant colours of all BRICS member countries, symbolising unity and collective strength.
- At the centre, the “Namaste” gesture reflects India’s spirit of warmth, respect and harmonious collaboration.
The three core pillars of BRICS —
- Political and Security Cooperation
- Economic and Financial Partnership
- People-to-People Exchanges
are subtly represented through the logo’s message of inclusivity, dialogue and shared growth, the statement said.
Purpose of the BRICS India 2026 Website
The newly launched website will act as a central platform for updates on BRICS initiatives, meetings and events to be held during India’s presidency, ensuring greater outreach and engagement with stakeholders.
Jaishankar on India’s Vision for BRICS
Speaking at the launch, EAM Jaishankar said India is approaching its BRICS chairship with a humanity-first and people-centric outlook, aiming to harness the collective potential of member countries for global welfare.
He noted that BRICS has steadily expanded its agenda and membership, responding to evolving global realities while remaining focused on dialogue, development and practical cooperation.
Extending greetings on Makar Sankranti, Lohri, Magh Bihu and Pongal, Jaishankar said these festivals symbolise hope and renewal, values that India’s BRICS chairship seeks to embody.
“When India prepares to assume the BRICS chairship in 2026, we do so at an important moment in the grouping’s journey,” he said, noting that BRICS will complete 20 years since its inception next year.
BRICS at 20: Expanding Membership and Role
BRIC was formalised in 2006 during a meeting of Foreign Ministers on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, with the first summit held in Yekaterinburg, Russia, in 2009. South Africa joined in 2010, turning BRIC into BRICS.
The grouping expanded further with Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE becoming full members in January 2024, followed by Indonesia in January 2025.
In 2025, Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Vietnam joined BRICS as Partner Countries.
India’s Chairship Priorities
Jaishankar said the current global environment is marked by geopolitical uncertainties, economic complexities, climate risks, technological shifts and persistent development gaps.
In this context, he emphasised that BRICS remains an important forum for dialogue, cooperation and practical solutions, taking into account national priorities at different stages of development.
India’s chairship will focus on four broad priorities —
- Resilience
- Innovation
- Cooperation
- Sustainability
These priorities provide a balanced framework across BRICS’ three foundational pillars: political and security cooperation, economic and financial collaboration, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
