New Delhi [India], April 20: India Gate came alive with energy and enthusiasm as it hosted the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ marathon today, drawing in a large crowd of fitness enthusiasts. The nationwide event, aimed at promoting active and healthy lifestyles, witnessed over 300 cycling events taking place simultaneously across the country.
Actor and Rugby Association President Rahul Bose joined hundreds of cyclists in the capital, participating in the event organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI).
Speaking at the event, Rahul Bose stressed the importance of collective fitness efforts:
“Of course, exercise is good for health, but it becomes even better when it is done together.” He added that such initiatives reflect a positive shift in India’s fitness culture, saying, “As a community, this country is getting out on Sundays and getting active.”
He also highlighted the vital role of sleep in overall well-being:
“Sleep is the most important for good health. You can only sleep well when your conscience is clear, and it can only happen when we live a morally clear life.”
Bose took a moment to praise the increasing support for rugby in India, especially through government programs like Khelo India.
“Over the last year, Khelo India has started supporting rugby… In rugby, women are performing even better than men at the Asian level,” he noted.
The ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ initiative, part of the broader Fit India Movement, encourages citizens of all ages to embrace physical activity by organizing cycling events every Sunday. The goal is to inspire a healthier and more active India through consistent community engagement.
