Singapore: India’s global passport ranking has slipped further in 2025, according to the Henley Passport Index. India now ranks 85th, offering visa-free access to 57 countries, down from 80th position and 62 destinations last year.
Singapore continues to hold the top spot, granting its citizens visa-free access to 193 countries. South Korea ranks second with 190 countries, followed by Japan at third with 189 destinations.
Countries ranked fourth include Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, and Switzerland, all allowing visa-free travel to 188 nations. Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, and the Netherlands share the fifth rank with 187 countries, while Hungary, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden occupy sixth place with 186 visa-free destinations.
Other notable rankings include:
Australia, Czechia, Malta, Poland – 7th with 185 countries
Croatia, Estonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, UAE, UK – 8th with 184 countries
Canada – 9th with 183 countries
Latvia, Liechtenstein – 10th with 182 countries
United States, Malaysia – 12th with 180 countries, marking the first time the US has fallen out of the top 10

Bangladesh: 100th, 38 visa-free countries
Nepal: 101st, 36 countries
Pakistan: 103rd, 31 countries
Bhutan: 92nd, 50 countries
Sri Lanka: 98th, 41 countries
At the bottom of the global list, Afghanistan remains the weakest passport with access to only 24 countries, followed by Syria (26) and Iraq (29).
For Indian passport holders, visa-free travel includes countries such as Mauritania, Angola, Barbados, Bhutan, Bolivia, British Virgin Islands, Burundi, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iran, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malaysia, Maldives, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
