India Extends Airspace Ban On Pakistani Aircraft Till July 24 Amid Rising Tensions

New Delhi [India], June 24: India has extended the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) restricting its airspace for Pakistani aircraft and airlines by one more month, now effective till July 24, 2025. This is the second extension of the NOTAM, which was initially valid from May 1 to May 23, 2025, and then extended till June 23.

The airspace closure has been in effect since April 30, targeting all Pakistani-owned, operated, or leased aircraft, including military flights. The move came as part of a series of measures taken by the Indian government following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 people.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu had earlier stated on May 23 that the government had “maintained the status quo” by extending the NOTAM, indicating no change in India’s firm stance on the matter.

On June 23, a fresh NOTAM was issued to continue the airspace ban till July 24, 2025. The notice reaffirms that Indian airspace remains unavailable to any Pakistan-registered aircraft or aircraft operated, owned, or leased by Pakistani airlines or military operators.

The airspace restrictions are part of a broader diplomatic and strategic response by India following the Pahalgam incident. Other measures include the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, closure of the Attari land border crossing, and downgrading of diplomatic ties with Pakistan.
