The decision was made through a multi-stage voting procedure at the 25th Asian Regional Conference in Singapore on Friday. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is India’s National Central Bureau (NCB) and was the country’s representative at the conference, said in a statement that this new role will make it easier for people to work together to fight organized crime, cybercrime, human trafficking, terrorism, and drug trafficking.
A spokesperson for the CBI said in a statement that the committee’s job is to “meet once a year to talk about regional security issues and give advice on how to coordinate actions among member countries.” Its main job is to advise the Asian Regional Conference on strategic and operational issues and help them figure out what the most important things are to do in the fight against crime in the region.
