DHAKA, Bangladesh, July 23: India is sending a specialized medical team to Dhaka to help treat burn victims from the recent crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter plane. This is a show of support and solidarity. The sad event that happened on Monday, July 21, 2025, in the Diabari district of Dhaka has sadly raised the dead toll to 29, with 69 persons hurt.
The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing says that 29 people died, including kids, two teachers, and the pilot. About 165 people were hurt, most of them were children. Most of the injured are students who are now in different hospitals in the city. Some of the other people that were hurt are teachers, school staff, firefighters, police officers, soldiers, maids, and electricians. Doctors are worried that the death toll could rise even more because 25 of the injured patients are still in critical condition with extensive burns.
The Indian High Commission in Dhaka posted on Facebook to clarify that the medical team would be coming soon. The tweet said, “A team of doctors and nurses who specialize in burns, along with the medical support they need, will be coming to Dhaka soon to help the victims.” The main goal of the team will be to check on the patients and suggest more therapy, which could include specialized care in India if it is needed. The High Commission further said, “More medical teams may come later, depending on their initial assessment and treatment.”
In Dhaka, officials have kept the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery closed to the public to keep things in order and make sure the victims of the Uttara plane tragedy get the medical attention they need without interruption. Hospital administrators made it clear that these steps are in place to keep noise and crowds to a minimum so that medical staff can focus on caring for patients who need it most.
Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, had already expressed his great sorrow at the loss of life in the tragic aviation disaster on July 21. He also promised that India would help and support Bangladesh during this difficult period.
