India Criticizes Pakistan On UNHRC Over Air Strikes, Urges Focus on Domestic Issues

India on Tuesday strongly condemned Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), urging it to address its own domestic problems instead of making “baseless claims” against India. The criticism came following Pakistan Air Force strikes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which reportedly killed at least 30 people, mostly civilians, on Monday.

Speaking at the 60th session of the UNHRC in Geneva, Kshitij Tyagi, Counsellor at India’s Permanent Mission, said Pakistan was misusing the forum with provocative statements and should instead focus on domestic challenges.

“Instead of coveting our territory, they would do well to vacate the Indian territory under their illegal occupation and focus on rescuing an economy on life support, a polity muzzled by military dominance, and a human rights record stained by persecution — perhaps once they find time away from exporting terrorism, harbouring UN-proscribed terrorists, and bombing their own people,” Tyagi said.

He added that the Human Rights Council must remain “universal, objective and non-selective,” urging member states to promote unity and constructive engagement rather than division.

Pakistan Air Strikes Kill 30 Civilians and Militants

The Pakistan Air Force reportedly dropped at least eight LS-6 bombs on Matre Dara village in the Tirah Valley around 2 am on Monday, targeting Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants. Police sources said the militants had stockpiled explosives in a compound, which detonated during the strikes.

Local officer Zafar Khan told the Associated Press that Taliban commanders, Aman Gul and Masood Khan, were using the site as a bomb-making facility and had employed civilians as human shields. Social media videos showed injured children lying on makeshift beds as residents assessed the damage.

While four houses were reportedly hit, the Pakistani government has yet to release an official statement. Meanwhile, around 2,000 people staged protests in a nearby town against the deadly strikes.
