The Indian women’s kabaddi team delivered a powerful and confident performance to clinch the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup title in Dhaka, defeating Chinese Taipei 35–28 in an exciting final. With this victory, India secured its second consecutive World Cup crown, reaffirming its dominance in the sport, according to a release from the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).
Celebrating the team’s achievement, Haryana Steelers head coach Manpreet Singh applauded the players and support staff. “The women’s team has delivered a performance the whole nation can be proud of. Their belief and teamwork were outstanding. As a former India player, I understand just how hard it is to reach this level. Big congratulations to the players and staff,” he said in the PKL statement.
India displayed remarkable form throughout the tournament. The team won all group-stage matches, cruised into the semi-finals, and defeated Iran 33–21 to book their place in the championship clash. Chinese Taipei entered the final with an equally strong record, remaining unbeaten in their group and securing a 25–18 win over hosts Bangladesh in the semi-final.
Puneri Paltan head coach Ajay Thakur also praised India’s campaign, highlighting the growing appeal of women’s kabaddi. “It is a very proud moment for India as the women’s team retained the World Cup trophy in Dhaka. Their dominant run to the final and then the trophy shows how much women’s kabaddi has progressed in the last few years. It is also a testament to the global appeal of the sport, with Bangladesh hosting the World Cup, and I hope this momentum continues in the years to come,” he said.
This year’s tournament saw participation from 11 countries, underscoring the rapidly expanding footprint of women’s kabaddi on the global stage. The strong international turnout reflects how the sport continues to gain popularity and recognition worldwide.
