India Clinches Medals At Asian Aquatics Championships

India won 13 medals at the 2025 Asian Aquatics Championships, including four silver and nine bronze. This was their best performance ever. On the last day, India won four bronze medals. Bhavya Sachdeva, Sajan Prakash, Srihari Nataraj, and the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay team all had great performances.

Bhavya Sachdeva won bronze in the women’s 400m freestyle with a time of 4:26.89 seconds, just behind Kha Nhi Nguyen of Vietnam, who won silver with a time of 4:25.50 seconds.

Sajan Prakash won the bronze medal in the men’s 200m butterfly with a time of 1:57.90. He was passed by rivals from Chinese Taipei and Japan on the last loop.

Srihari Nataraj came in third in the men’s 100m backstroke with a time of 55.23 seconds, slightly ahead of compatriot Rishabh Das, who placed in fourth.

The men’s 4x100m freestyle relay was the last event of the night, and it was exciting. India finished in third place with a time of 3:21.49 seconds, behind China (3:20.24) and Chinese Taipei (3:20.59). The team members Thomas Durai, Akash Mani, Rohit Benedicton, and Srihari Nataraj put on a great show in the nail-biting race.

China won the most medals in the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex competitions, with 38 gold, 8 silver, and 3 bronze. Japan came in second with 18 medals (5 gold, 9 silver, and 4 bronze), and Hong Kong came in third with 14 medals (3 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze).

Artistic Swimming and Water Polo competitions will commence on October 4 and continue the championships.
