In a powerful counteroffensive under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces launched precision airstrikes on key Pakistani military targets on Saturday in response to Pakistan’s continued aggression along the western border and the Line of Control (LoC).
During a joint press briefing by the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi confirmed that air-launched precision weapons struck technical installations, radar sites, command centres, and ammunition strongholds in Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Chunian, Pasrur, and Sialkot.
“These operations were carefully executed to avoid civilian harm,” said Colonel Qureshi, emphasizing India’s intention to de-escalate the conflict while responding proportionately to Pakistan’s provocations.
Pakistan’s offensive included the deployment of drones, loitering munitions, long-range weaponry, and UCAVs across more than 26 Indian sites, from Srinagar to Naliya. Several Indian airbases—including Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, Bhuj, and Bathinda—sustained damage, and multiple personnel were injured.
Colonel Qureshi also condemned Pakistan’s use of high-speed missiles to target civilian areas and critical infrastructure, including hospitals and schools at Indian airbases in Srinagar, Awantipora, and Udhampur, calling the act “unprofessional and condemnable.”
Operation Sindoor was launched in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. The objective of the mission is to dismantle terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) while maintaining operational precision and minimizing further escalation.
