India Reiterates Call To Hold Pakistan Accountable For Cross-Border Terrorism

New Delhi [India]: India on Thursday reaffirmed its firm stance against terrorism and called on the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for cross-border terror attacks it has perpetrated over the past four decades.

During the weekly media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal underscored India’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to highlight its counter-terrorism stance, saying,

“We want to exhort the world to hold those responsible for cross-border terrorism accountable. Those who have been practising it for the last 40 years against India — that is, Pakistan — their actions need to be called out.”

Jaiswal emphasized that India seeks to strengthen global cooperation against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, noting that international unity is critical to combat the persistent threat.

Operation Sindoor: A Decisive Response

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, as a military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. The Indian Armed Forces struck multiple terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), eliminating over 100 terrorists affiliated with banned groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).

Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling and drone attacks along the Line of Control, prompting India to escalate its operations, targeting and disabling key assets at 11 Pakistani airbases, including radar systems, communication centres, and airfields.

Following the intensified military exchanges, a ceasefire understanding between the two nations was reached on May 10.

All-Party Delegation to Mobilize Global Support

To bolster international awareness of India’s counter-terrorism narrative, a multi-party parliamentary delegation, led by Sanjay Kumar Jha, has been dispatched to several key nations.

The delegation includes:

  • Ambassador Mohan Kumar
  • BJP MP Hemang Joshi
  • CPI(M) MP John Brittas
  • TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee
  • BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, and Pradan Baruah

The delegation reached Tokyo today as part of a broader outreach to countries including Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, and Singapore. Their mission is to brief foreign leaders about the April 22 Pahalgam attack, India’s strategic response, and the larger goal of uniting the global community against cross-border terrorism.

“This is a political mission. We want to make a stronger outreach to the world to convey our resolve to fight terrorism… The unity of India, the purpose of India,” Jaiswal said.
