India-Bangladesh Trade Ties Strengthen Through Textile Sector Cooperation

Trade and economic cooperation between India and Bangladesh continue to grow, strengthening ties between the two neighboring nations, Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma said on Monday.

The High Commission of India in Dhaka hosted an interactive session with key business leaders from Bangladesh’s textile sector. The discussion was centered around Bharat Tex 2025, a global textile event scheduled to be held in New Delhi from February 14-17, 2025. The event will bring together major stakeholders across the entire textile value chain.

During the event, High Commissioner Pranay Verma emphasized the crucial role of Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector in socio-economic development and its contribution to supply chain integration between the two nations. He highlighted the mutual benefits of textile sector collaboration and stated:

“The participation of a large delegation from Bangladesh in Bharat Tex 2025 will open up new opportunities for establishing new supply chain linkages, investment, and technology tie-ups across various segments of the textile value chain.”

Verma further stressed that stronger trade connectivity and economic engagement between India and Bangladesh would continue to bring their people and businesses closer together.

The event was attended by Md. Anwar Hossain (BGMEA & EPB Vice-Chairman) and Mohammad Hatem (BKMEA President) as Guests of Honour. Special guests included Faruque Hassan (BUFT Chairman) and Md. Jashim Uddin (Bengal Commercial Bank Chairman).

Industry representatives from Bangladesh expressed optimism about their participation in Bharat Tex 2025, stating that deeper engagement with India would unlock new growth opportunities for the Bangladeshi garment industry.
