Jakarta [Indonesia]: In a strong diplomatic statement during a visit to Indonesia, JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha, leading an all-party parliamentary delegation, reiterated India’s firm stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism and called for global unity, especially among democratic nations, in tackling cross-border terror.
The delegation participated in an ‘Interaction with Think Tanks and Academia’ in Jakarta, emphasizing the critical role of academic and policy institutions in shaping counter-terrorism strategies.
India Draws a Clear Line: No Distinction Between Terror and Sponsors
“India, along with other countries like Indonesia, has a zero tolerance for terrorism. From hereafter, India will not make any distinction between terrorists and the country that promotes them. We will not accept any nuclear blackmail. Those who shelter terrorists cannot hide behind the nuclear umbrella,” said Jha.
He cited the recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, as an example of attempts to disrupt peace and provoke communal disharmony in India.
Indonesia’s Support Lauded, Policy Influence Sought
Jha welcomed Indonesia’s firm and consistent condemnation of terrorism, acknowledging the country’s zero-tolerance policy and the critical role of Southeast Asia’s think tanks and academia in global security conversations.
“Today, we seek support from the think tank community and academia in Indonesia to influence and enable policymakers to draft strategies for the future,” he said.
India’s United Voice on Terrorism: Salman Khurshid Emphasizes Shared Values
Joining the discussion, Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid highlighted India’s bipartisan unity on terrorism and stressed the shared cultural fabric between India and Indonesia.
“We are a multi-party delegation. The idea is to show that India has a united voice on very critical matters—both for the world and for India,” he said.
“There are many overlaps between our countries. You have the largest Muslim population in the world; we have the second-largest. Our enemies aim to destroy this very fabric of our societies. That is why we are here—to speak to friends who understand our pain and the global implications.”

The delegation also met with ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn at the ASEAN Headquarters. Hourn reaffirmed ASEAN’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with India, highlighting deeper engagement on security, regional cooperation, and shared democratic values.
