Motihari (Bihar), December 8: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar reaffirmed India’s ambitious goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, emphasizing that it is not merely a dream but a concrete objective requiring collective effort and sacrifices. Speaking at the 2nd Convocation of Mahatma Gandhi Central University in Motihari, Bihar, the Vice President underscored the need for a significant increase in per capita income to realize this vision.
“A developed India by 2047 is not just a dream; it is our goal. For this, our current per capita income must increase eightfold. Achieving this will demand significant contributions from every citizen,” Dhankhar stated.
Technology Revolution and Transforming Service Delivery
Highlighting the transformative impact of technology in India, Dhankhar described it as a “major revolution” that has streamlined service delivery across the nation.
“The world is amazed at how a country of 140 crore people is leveraging technology to reach the farthest corners. Tasks that once required standing in long queues, such as paying bills or obtaining passports, can now be done effortlessly on smartphones. This is a remarkable change,” he remarked.
Reviving Bihar’s Glory and the Call for Environmental Responsibility
Reflecting on Bihar’s progress, Dhankhar pointed to the resurgence of Nalanda as a symbol of the state’s development. “This land is shining again. Nalanda is no longer a relic of the past; it’s a beacon of hope for the future,” he said.
Dhankhar also recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to plant trees in honor of loved ones. “Imagine the revolution if 140 crore Indians planted a tree for their mothers or children. It’s a small act that could create massive environmental and societal benefits,” he added.
Reducing Import Dependency and Boosting Domestic Entrepreneurship
Dhankhar urged citizens to reduce dependence on imports, highlighting its negative impact on foreign reserves, employment, and local entrepreneurship. “By manufacturing goods domestically, we can create jobs, save foreign exchange, and empower our entrepreneurs. Every citizen can contribute to this effort,” he emphasized.
Empowering Youth Through Innovation
Concluding his address, the Vice President encouraged students to think innovatively and leverage supportive government policies. “Workshops should focus on infinite possibilities. Policies today make it easier to access funds and turn ideas into reality. Boys and girls, think out of the box,” he urged.
The event was attended by Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, MP Radha Mohan Singh, Chancellor Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Srivastava, and other dignitaries.
