India Clinches Asia Cup Final Spot With Dominant Win Over Bangladesh

DUBAI – India’s winning streak in the 2025 Asia Cup continued on Wednesday when they beat Bangladesh by 41 runs in a Super Four match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India’s win, which was the result of a team effort, put them in the final of the competition.

Bangladesh, led by stand-in captain Jaker Ali because Litton Das was hurt, chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Abhishek Sharma, the opener, got India’s innings off to a fast start with a furious knock. He hit 50 runs in just 25 balls and then scored an amazing 75 runs in 37 balls. His spectacular innings, which included five sixes, set a new record for the most sixes in a single edition of the Asia Cup, beating Sanath Jayasuriya’s previous record. In just over six overs, he and Shubman Gill (29) put together a quick 77-run opening stand.

But after they were out, India’s middle order had trouble keeping up the pace, and hitters like Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma didn’t take advantage. India’s innings ended with a low score of 168 for six.

The total, while not as high as it could have been, was more than enough for India’s disciplined bowling assault. Jasprit Bumrah had an instant effect, getting rid of Tanzid Hasan Tamim for only one run and beating the only person who stood up to him, Saif Hassan, who scored fifty runs for Bangladesh.

After that, the Indian spinners took over the game, using the slow Dubai surface to their advantage. Varun Chakaravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel kept the runs from flowing and took important wickets, breaking up the Bangladeshi middle order. Bangladesh was finally out for 127 runs in 19.3 overs, which was a long way from the mark.

India is still undefeated in the tournament after their clinical win, and they are confident going into the final.
