Actor Imran Khan has opened up about a difficult period in his life, revealing that a serious mental health crisis pushed him to rethink his lifestyle and priorities. After spending years away from the film industry, the actor shared how the experience forced him to consciously work on his emotional well-being.
In a recent interview, Imran said the episode felt similar to a sudden physical health scare that makes people immediately change their habits. He explained that he realised things in his life were not in the right place and he needed to actively address his mental state instead of ignoring it.
The actor admitted he always believed he was a relaxed and easy-going person, but eventually understood that his behaviour did not match that image. He discovered he was living with intense fear and crippling anxiety, which was the complete opposite of the personality he thought he had. Recognising this disconnect became the turning point that made him focus on mental health and self-awareness.
Imran stepped away from Bollywood after the failure of Katti Batti in 2015. During his break from films, he went through personal struggles, including a divorce and a prolonged emotional battle. The time away helped him reflect on his life and rebuild himself.
The actor became an overnight star with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na in 2007 and later gained popularity with the cult hit Delhi Belly. However, several box-office disappointments affected his career trajectory.
Now, Imran is preparing for a comeback. He recently appeared in a cameo in Vir Das’ directorial Happy Patel and is set to return as a lead actor in Adhure Hum Adhure Tum opposite Bhumi Pednekar, which is expected to release on Netflix this year.
