IMD Issues Orange Alert For Multiple States: Heavy Rainfall Predicted In Gurugram, East Rajasthan, MP, And More

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of North and Central India for Friday, July 11. States expected to be hit include East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Vidarbha.

Orange Alert in Haryana and NCR

Parts of Haryana, including Rohtak, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Jhajjar, are under orange alert for moderate to heavy rainfall. A yellow alert has been issued for Hisar, Bhiwani, Rewari, Mewat, Palwal, and Yamuna Nagar.

In Gurugram, rains that began on Wednesday have continued into Thursday, with 133 mm recorded overnight, leading to severe waterlogging and at least 8 deaths in rain-related incidents. The situation remains tense as more rain is expected.


Delhi Weather Today: Yellow Alert

In Delhi, the IMD has sounded a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall. The skies will remain generally cloudy, with light showers and occasional lightning likely.

  • Min Temperature: 23–25°C

Thursday’s rain in Delhi-NCR brought traffic snarls and waterlogging in several areas.


Himachal Pradesh: Flood Fears Persist

Himachal Pradesh continues to reel under monsoon fury.

  • Orange Alert: Kangra, Sirmaur
  • Yellow Alert: Mandi, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur

According to State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), 208 roads have been closed due to landslides and flooding caused by heavy rainfall and cloudbursts over the past few days.

Forecast:

  • Light to moderate rainfall is expected on July 11, 13, 14, and 15, with scattered rains on July 12 and 16.

Rainfall Predicted in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, yellow alerts have been issued for Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, and Waedha.
These regions may see moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on July 11.
