IGNOU Opens Re-Registration For January 2026 Session: Apply Online At ignou.ac.in By January 15

New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has officially opened the re-registration window for the January 2026 academic session. Beginning December 1, the process will remain active until January 15, 2026, on the university’s official website, ignou.ac.in. The re-registration facility is available to all students enrolled in IGNOU’s online and distance learning programmes.

The university has activated its online re-registration system, allowing students to update personal details, select their next-semester or next-year courses, and pay the required fees. IGNOU has reminded all existing learners that re-registration is mandatory for continuing their studies into the upcoming cycle.

However, the university has urged students to exercise caution when choosing courses, noting that incorrect selections or later modifications may lead to delays in the academic schedule.

In addition, IGNOU has advised students to avoid waiting until the final day to submit their forms, as heavy traffic on the portal could cause technical issues. Once the form is submitted, students must download and save both the confirmation page and the payment receipt for future reference.

Payments can be made securely through debit cards, credit cards, net banking, or UPI. IGNOU has also stated that if a payment takes time to reflect, students should wait before retrying. In cases where double payments occur, the excess amount will be automatically refunded.

International Division students can also apply using the payment options available for their respective regions, following the same steps as domestic learners.


How to Complete IGNOU Re-Registration

Students can finish their re-registration using the IGNOU student portal:

  • Official Website: ignou.ac.in
  • Direct Re-Registration Portal: ignou.samarth.edu.in

The process includes five key steps:

  1. Visit the IGNOU website and click the re-registration link under the “Register Online” section.
  2. Carefully read all instructions available on the portal.
  3. Log in and fill in your course selection along with updated personal information.
  4. Upload the necessary documents and make the fee payment online.
  5. Review all details, submit the form, and download the confirmation page and payment receipt.
