IDF Launches Humanitarian Airdrops in Gaza to Combat ‘Starvation Claims’

Israel Resumes Aid Deliveries Amidst Ongoing Operations, Says ‘No Famine’ Exists

Tel Aviv, Israel – July 27, 2025: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced a number of additional humanitarian measures in Gaza after receiving orders from its political leaders. The IDF is doing these things to fight what it deems “false claims of deliberate starvation” in the Strip.

The IDF will start dropping humanitarian aid from the air again on Saturday night. This is a big move that was planned in close cooperation with international groups, with the Israeli Air Force and COGAT (Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories) leading the way. Seven pallets of vital goods, such as wheat, sugar, and canned foods, will be dropped in the first airdrop.

An IDF spokesperson said, “There is no famine in Gaza. This is a false Hamas narrative,” explicitly responding to the continuing international debate. The spokesperson said again that Israel is committed to its military goals, saying, “Combat operations continue until all hostages are returned and Hamas is dismantled.”

The IDF is also doing other things to make it easier for aid to go to people outside the airdrops. New humanitarian routes will be built so that UN and other relief convoys can travel around more safely. In addition, periodic humanitarian pauses are planned for regions with a lot of people, with the goal of creating opportunities for assistance distribution and keeping civilians safe.

IDF estimates say that more than 250 relief trucks have reached Gaza this week alone. These trucks are joining hundreds more that are already waiting to be distributed by the United Nations. COGAT is also aggressively arranging the collecting of hundreds of additional supply vehicles, signifying a sustained attempt to expand the flow of humanitarian assistance into the area.
