New Delhi [India], December 27 : The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) has unveiled the 16-member squad for the upcoming International T20I Tri-Series and ODI series. The T20I Tri-Series, featuring India, South Africa, and Australia, will take place from March 2 to March 8, 2025, in New Delhi. Following the tri-series, the Indian Deaf team will compete in a three-match ODI series against Australia from March 10 to March 12.
The squad was selected by the All-India Men’s Selection Committee, with Virender Singh being named as the captain and Sai Akash as vice-captain. The team will undergo comprehensive training and practice sessions under the leadership of head coach Dev Dutt, along with assistant coach Susheel Gupta. Head coach Dev Dutt praised the team’s potential and expressed confidence in their abilities.
“I am pleased with the squad’s selection and the immense talent it holds,” said Coach Dev Dutt. “With the support of the IDCA, we aim to perform exceptionally well in both the tri-series and the ODI series.”
IDCA President Sumit Jain expressed optimism about the team’s prospects, saying, “The Indian squad looks highly promising, and I am confident they will deliver stellar performances in both the tournaments. This tri-series and ODI series will serve as a major platform for our players to prove themselves on the international stage.”
IDCA CEO Roma Balwani also emphasized the importance of such tournaments in showcasing the talents of hearing-impaired athletes. “The IDCA is committed to promoting and supporting our hearing-impaired players. I am excited to see them shine in these competitive events,” she added.
The IDCA is a member of the Deaf International Cricket Council (DICC), which collaborates with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to promote cricket for athletes with hearing impairments worldwide.
