Fans of the prehistoric pals have something to look forward to. Disney officially announced the new Ice Age film, Ice Age: Boiling Point, at the Destination D23 event on Saturday. The studio confirmed the film’s title, its release date of February 5, 2027, and a thrilling new plot.
The official logline for the film reveals a dinosaur-and-lava-filled adventure that will take the herd to “never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World.” The core voice cast will return, with Ray Romano as Manny, Queen Latifah as Ellie, John Leguizamo as Sid, Denis Leary as Diego, and Simon Pegg as Buck.
The Ice Age franchise began in 2002 and has grossed over $3 billion worldwide, making it one of the most successful animated film series of all time. The last theatrical release, Ice Age: Collision Course, premiered in 2016. The new film’s title and plot suggest a return to the popular dinosaur theme, which was first introduced in Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
