IB Hands Over List Of 5,000 Pakistani Nationals In Delhi To Police For Deportation Amid Visa Revocations

New Delhi [India], April 27 : In a significant development following the recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has provided the Delhi Police with a list of approximately 5,000 Pakistani nationals residing in the national capital. This action is part of a nationwide directive to ensure their return to Pakistan.

The move comes after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued an order on Friday revoking visas for Pakistani nationals, effective April 27, 2025. Exceptions have been made for medical, diplomatic, and Long-Term Visas (LTVs), with the latter primarily granted to Hindu Pakistani nationals. Medical visas will also be rendered invalid after April 29, 2025.

The Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) has shared the data with the Special Branch of the Delhi Police, which has passed it on to the respective districts for verification and identification of the individuals. According to a senior official, a high number of Pakistani nationals live in the Central and North-East districts, especially near Majnu Ka Tila and Signature Bridge, where around 900 and 600–700 individuals are estimated to reside, respectively.

Officials confirmed that the compiled data comprises two lists—one with 3,000 names and another with 2,000. There is some overlap, and verification is underway to determine the current status of each individual, as some may have already left the country.

Delhi Police, in coordination with IB and Special Branch officers, has been directed to act swiftly. “Senior officers are closely monitoring the situation, and immediate action is being taken,” a senior police official stated.
