“I Will Truly Become An MLA After The Oath In Assembly”: Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat

Chandigarh (Haryana) [India]: Newly elected Congress MLA and Olympian Vinesh Phogat arrived at the Haryana Assembly on Friday.

Phogat said that she would become an MLA truly after her oath in the Assembly.
Speaking to the media, she said “I will truly become an MLA after the oath at the assembly. People voted for me and now they have given me a responsibility. I had said that my fight would begin the moment I take one step inside the house. People have fought, now it is my duty to fight for them for five years in the Assembly.”

Phogat had won the Julana Assembly seat in Haryana assembly polls, defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate (BJP) Yogesh Kumar, according to the Election Commission of India. The former wrestler secured a victory with a margin of 5,761 votes.
Newly elected Congress MLA Aditya Surjewala sais he wanted to raise farmer issues inside the assembly.

“I am the youngest MLA in the assembly. I’ll bring energy to raise the voice of the people… Haryana is an agriculture-based state, if we won’t help farmers now if we won’t give them MSP, it will push them into debt,” he said.

Inside the Assembly heated scenes were witnessed after Congress MLA Bhupinder Singh Hooda took objection to the post of ‘Acting Speaker.’

“I am hearing about Acting Speaker for the first time. It is always a Pro-tem Speaker…This is an insult to the chair of the Speaker…It should be changed,” he said.

In his reply CM Nayab Singh Saini cited two examples of the post of Acting Speaker from 2005 and 2009, during the Congress government’s tenure.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda said, “The Opposition at that time should have objected to it…”
Earlier, following a review meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Haryana Chief Minister Nayad Singh Saini announced that all 12 proposals for improving road connectivity in the state have been approved by the Union Minister.

During discussions on National Highway Projects with the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Saini addressed issues raised by the people of Haryana regarding the construction of new roads.

Saini highlighted that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will soon be prepared to connect the Kurukshetra bypass with the Ladwa bypass and Yamunanagar via a four-lane road. Additionally, the 12-kilometre expressway linking Faridabad to Jewar Airport will be elevated to resolve problems faced by nearby residents.
