Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja won over his fans with a moment of refreshing honesty at the pre-release event for his upcoming film, Mass Jathara. Following a string of releases that have underperformed both critically and commercially since his 2022 hit Dhamaka, the actor directly addressed the disappointment felt by his loyal audience.
The Direct Admission to Fans
Stepping onto the stage, Ravi Teja delivered a candid message, acknowledging the fan frustration with his recent film choices.
“Brothers, I almost forgot about you, sorry. I want to tell you something,” the actor began, before making a direct confession: “I know my films have irritated you lately. That won’t happen with this film. It’s my promise. Thank you so much. Jai cinema.”
The actor’s unvarnished admission earned immediate and passionate cheers from the crowd at the venue. This openness was also applauded on social media, with one fan on X (formerly Twitter) writing, “Thank u soo much for addressing this @RaviTeja_offl anna. Love u. JAI CINEMA. JAI RAVI TEJA.” Many others lauded his straightforwardness, commenting with phrases like, “Love you Ravi anna,” and a supportive “It’s about Mr Bachchan.”
A Challenging Phase for the Mass Maharaja
The actor’s career has indeed seen an ebb after the successes of 2021’s Krack and 2022’s Dhamaka. Subsequent films, including Ravanasura, Tiger Nageswara Rao, Eagle, and most recently, Mr Bachchan, failed to resonate as expected.
Mr Bachchan, a remake of the Hindi film Raid and directed by Harish Shankar, was particularly anticipated but only managed a worldwide gross of $\text{₹}13.5$ crore. This trailed behind his other recent releases, such as Eagle ($\text{₹}31$ crore) and Tiger Nageswara Rao ($\text{₹}49$ crore), highlighting a challenging box office run.
Hope Rests on ‘Mass Jathara’
Ravi Teja is now banking on Mass Jathara to deliver the mass entertainer experience his fans crave. Directed by Bhanu Bogavarapu, the film co-stars Sreeleela and is produced by Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinemas, and Srikara Studios.
The film is slated for release in theatres on October 31.
