Hyderabad (Telangana) [India]: The City of Pearls is all set to shine on the global stage as Hyderabad prepares to host the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant on May 31 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre.
In anticipation of the prestigious event, Telangana’s Information & Public Relations Department has unveiled an extensive itinerary packed with cultural experiences and high-profile activities across the state. Among the standout events is a planned visit to an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on May 21, where Miss World contestants will be special guests.
Contestants will also immerse themselves in Telangana’s rich heritage through a series of experiences: a heritage walk at Charminar and Laad Bazaar on May 12, a royal tour of Chowmahalla Palace on May 13, and visits to Warangal Fort, the Thousand Pillar Temple, and Ramappa Temple. A captivating performance of the traditional Perini dance is also scheduled for May 14.
To welcome the international guests, Shamshabad Airport has been transformed with special lounges, help desks, and festive arches showcasing Telangana’s cultural landmarks. The state’s slogan, “Telangana Jaroor Aana” (Must Visit Telangana), is prominently displayed to promote tourism.
The Telangana government sees the pageant as a platform to spotlight the state’s growing appeal as a global tourist destination. In 2024 alone, Telangana attracted over 1.5 lakh international tourists.
This marks the second consecutive year India hosts the Miss World pageant. Reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska of Poland will crown her successor at the grand finale, where Femina Miss India World 2023, Nandini Gupta, will represent the nation.
