Hollywood’s Biggest Films Of 2026: Avengers Doomsday, Nolan’s Odyssey, Spider-Man Return, Dune Finale & More

The coming year is shaping up to be one of the most exciting periods for global cinema, with Hollywood gearing up for a power-packed lineup of major releases. With superhero sagas, epic historical dramas, fantasy reboots, sci-fi thrillers, and long-awaited franchise continuations, 2026 promises something for every movie lover.

Avengers: Doomsday

Marvel is returning with one of its most anticipated projects — Avengers: Doomsday, the fourth installment of the blockbuster Avengers franchise. The film faces the massive challenge of living up to 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, widely viewed as the emotional conclusion of the MCU’s original saga.

In a surprising twist, Robert Downey Jr. is expected to return, not as Iron Man, but as Marvel’s legendary villain Doctor Doom. The movie is also expected to feature characters from Fox’s X-Men universe along with several returning MCU heroes.

Marvel has recently leaned heavily on nostalgia, seen in hits like Deadpool & Wolverine and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Whether this approach will continue to excite audiences or begin to feel repetitive remains to be seen. Avengers: Doomsday releases December 18, 2026.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

Renowned director Christopher Nolan is set to revive the grand “sword-and-sandals” genre with The Odyssey, his retelling of Homer’s legendary Greek epic. The film follows King Odysseus’ perilous journey home after the Trojan War.

The cast includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, and Jon Bernthal portraying gods and royal figures. The Odyssey releases July 2026.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, focusing on a more grounded, comic-accurate version of Peter Parker struggling financially and emotionally after the events of the previous movie.

The film reportedly includes Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, and villains Scorpion (Michael Mando) and Tombstone (Marvin Jones III). Stranger Things star Sadie Sink also joins in a secret role.
Releasing July 2026.

Dune: Part Three

Director Denis Villeneuve returns with Dune: Part Three, adapting Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah. The film explores the political and spiritual consequences of Paul Atreides’ reign.

Starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and a larger role for Jason Momoa’s Duncan Idaho, this final chapter hits cinemas December 18, 2026 — the same day as Avengers: Doomsday, with fans dubbing it “Dunesday.”

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

James Gunn’s DC Universe continues with Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock as a fiercer, more hardened version of Superman’s cousin. Based on Tom King’s acclaimed comic, the storyline follows Supergirl helping a young alien girl seek vengeance.

The film will also feature Jason Momoa as Lobo, the chaotic anti-hero biker.
Releases June 2026.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man

Cillian Murphy returns as the iconic Thomas Shelby in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, a cinematic continuation of the acclaimed series. Set during World War II, it follows Shelby emerging from exile for one final showdown.
Releases March 2026.

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew

After the success of Barbie, Greta Gerwig directs a new chapter of The Chronicles of Narnia, adapting the prequel The Magician’s Nephew, exploring the origin of Narnia and the rise of the White Witch.
Releases November 2026.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die

Director Gore Verbinski returns with a wild sci-fi comedy led by Sam Rockwell, playing a disheveled survivor from a dystopian future destroyed by AI. The film explores the bizarre and humorous side of an AI apocalypse.
Releases February 2026.

Wuthering Heights

Director Emerald Fennell adapts Emily Brontë’s classic romance with a bold, sensual twist. Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi star as Catherine and Heathcliff, with an original soundtrack by Charli XCX.
Releases February 2026.

The Sheep Detectives

In one of the most unusual yet charming films of the year, Hugh Jackman plays a shepherd whose sheep can understand humans — and set out to solve his mysterious death.
Written by Craig Mazin, the cast also includes Bryan Cranston, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Patrick Stewart.
Releases May 2026.
