Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], March 7: Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh announced on Friday that the Project Internal Approval Committee of NABARD, during its 141st meeting, has approved Rs. 109.3 crore for the development of 10 rural road projects across six districts of Himachal Pradesh under RIDF XXX. These initiatives are set to significantly enhance rural connectivity, improve transportation facilities, and benefit thousands of people in the state.
The PWD Minister emphasized the commitment of the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to ensure progressive governance and holistic development. He further highlighted the government’s continuous efforts to enhance infrastructure, with active representations at the central level to secure grants for various projects, strengthening the state’s development initiatives.
The approved projects include the upgradation of several critical roads, such as the Junalla-Karloti-Chhat-Berthin road, the Tikkar Manoh via Jakhyol-Ramehra-Sulkhan-Dhirwin road, and the Rohru-Chirgaon-Dodrakawar road. Additionally, roads linking Pirsaluhi (Kangra) to Kitpal (Hamirpur), Puyad to Tikkari via Dharli, and roads from Thathar Tripal to Mehwa Panchayat, as well as Saheed Tej Singh Smarak Jatta-Ra-Nallah to Kukrigalu via Harijan Basti Saloun, Katloun, and Chhamyar, have also been included in the projects.
A major project also involves the construction of a 35-meter span bridge connecting Nehwat, Nayaser, Ghaini, and Devidhar. Additionally, a road with culverts and metalling/tarring from Kanshiwala to Biroja Factory via Jable Ka Bag, Kanol Lag, and Batuni Morch has been sanctioned.
Singh explained that these projects would play a crucial role in strengthening the rural economy by improving connectivity to remote areas, facilitating the smooth movement of agricultural produce, daily essentials, and public transport. He instructed the officials of the Public Works Department to commence work within a month after completing all necessary formalities and emphasized maintaining high construction standards to ensure the timely completion of the projects.
