The Union Cabinet approved proposal to rename Kerala as Keralam following resolutions by state Assembly. The decision was announced by Ashwini Vaishnaw. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the name reflects cultural identity. Formal constitutional process will now move forward ahead of Assembly elections.
