1) Union Budget May Be On Sunday
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may present the Union Budget twenty twenty six twenty seven on February one which falls on a Sunday. The date was fixed in twenty seventeen to ensure early approval. A Sunday Budget would be rare. Final decision rests with the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs soon.
2) Delhi Choked By Toxic Smog
Delhi and NCR are facing a severe environmental crisis as pollution and dense fog worsen conditions. AQI levels have crossed 400 in many areas. Smog has reduced visibility to near zero. Roads are unsafe and residents stay indoors as experts warn of serious health risks across the national capital today.
3) Jay Shah Wins Transformational Leader Award
BCCI and ICC congratulated Jay Shah for winning Transformational Leader of the Year at NDTV Indian of the Year 2025. As former BCCI secretary he drove pay parity launched WPL boosted domestic cricket and secured major media deals. Shah dedicated the honour to women cricketers and World Cup winners.
4) Gill Dropped From T20 World Cup Squad
Shubman Gill was left out of Indias T20 World Cup 2026 squad after poor form. Axar Patel was named vice captain. Selectors chose a wicketkeeper opener with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. Ishan Kishan and Rinku Singh returned. India aim to defend the title at home in February and March.
5) Randeep And Lin Expect First Child
Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram announced they are expecting their first child on their second anniversary. Lin revealed a miscarriage earlier this year and shared gratitude and hope. She said Randeep has been supportive throughout. The pregnancy has been smooth and the baby is due in March 2026 next year.

Robin Uthappa praised Hardik Pandya after India beat South Africa three one in T20Is. He compared Hardik energy to Viv Richards. Hardik smashed 63 off 25 and took a wicket. Dale Steyn hailed his aura. Hardik reached 2000 T20I runs as India sealed eighth straight series win.
