PATNA: A high alert has been issued across Bihar after intelligence inputs revealed that three alleged Pakistani terrorists from the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror outfit have infiltrated the state through its porous border with Nepal. The Bihar Police Headquarters (PHQ) has circulated the names, photographs, and passport details of the suspects to all border districts, instructing officials to enhance surveillance and conduct a wide-scale verification drive.
The suspects have been identified as Hasnanin Ali from Rawalpindi, Adil Hussain from Umarkot, and Mohammad Usman from Bahawalpur. According to officials, the trio reportedly arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal, during the second week of August and successfully crossed into Bihar last week.
Security Heightened Ahead of Assembly Elections
The timing of the infiltration is particularly concerning for security agencies as Bihar is preparing for its upcoming Assembly elections. Security has been ramped up at all crowded public places, including railway stations, bus stands, and hotels. Senior police officers have been briefed on the situation, with district intelligence units instructed to intensify monitoring and act on any suspicious activity.
The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), which is responsible for guarding the border, has also been put on high alert. The Bihar-Nepal border is a 729-kilometer-long open border, which has historically been exploited for illicit activities and infiltration by terror groups. This incident adds to a pattern of security challenges in the region, which has emerged as a transit point for illegal and criminal activities.
Authorities have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the police immediately. The police are continuing their intensive search operation to neutralize the threat and ensure peaceful elections in the state.
