Fans who have been waiting a long time for the Highlander reboot now have to wait even longer because the star, Henry Cavill, got hurt and the movie’s production has been put on hold. The accident happened while training for the physically demanding job, which meant that the project had to be pushed back to 2026.
Reports from a number of entertainment sites, such as Deadline and Variety, say that Cavill harmed himself during pre-production while getting ready for the long sword-fighting scenes that are a trademark of the film. We don’t know exactly what kind of injury he had, but it was bad enough to stop production, which was supposed to start later this year.
The picture has been in the works for years, but this is a big setback. Chad Stahelski (of the John Wick franchise) is due to helm, and the cast features Russell Crowe as Ramirez and Dave Bautista as the Kurgen.
Cavill will play the famous role of Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish warrior, in the new version of the 1986 cult movie. Fans are even more excited for the movie now that it has been delayed, even though there is no official release date yet. Many people think it may be a great fantasy action movie. The production crew is already developing a new plan. They hope to start filming again in early 2026, which will give Cavill enough time to heal completely.
