Unprecedented Security Measures Deployed For Amarnath Yatra 2025 After Pahalgam Attack

In an unprecedented move to ensure the safety of devotees, the Amarnath Yatra 2025 will be guarded by a massive deployment of 581 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), jammers, drones, and elite security teams, officials confirmed.

The 38-day annual Hindu pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, beginning July 3 and ending August 9, has seen a significant ramp-up in security following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 tourists dead.

Key Security Measures Include:

  • Jammers installed for the first time to protect convoys.
  • Drones and K9 units for aerial and on-ground surveillance.
  • Quick Action Teams (QATs), Road Opening Parties (ROPs), and Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) positioned along the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
  • Temporary roadblocks on key highways during convoy movement to prevent threats.

Top sources said, “Preparations are in full swing to ensure a secure, seamless, and well-coordinated Yatra. Regular high-level coordination meetings are being held between the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), J-K Police, CAPFs, and local administration.”

The Director General of CRPF, Gyanendra Pratap Singh, recently reviewed preparedness by visiting critical locations including Pahalgam, Jammu, Yatri Niwas, and base camps. His inspection underscores the emphasis on on-ground readiness to ensure that the pilgrimage proceeds without disruptions.

This year’s Yatra duration has been shortened to 38 days, compared to 52 days last year, to improve management and safety logistics.

Held annually during the Shravan month, the Amarnath Yatra is dedicated to Lord Shiva, with pilgrims trekking to the 3,888-meter-high cave where a naturally formed ice Shivling is worshipped.

With lakhs of pilgrims expected this year, authorities aim to deliver a spiritually enriching and secure experience while reaffirming the importance of religious harmony and national security in one of India’s most revered pilgrimages.
