The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for heavy rain on Tuesday, affecting several districts in Delhi and the neighboring city of Gurugram in Haryana. The nowcast warning was in effect from 2:45 pm to 4:45 pm, indicating the possibility of intense rainfall and its associated impacts.
According to the IMD’s district-wise nowcast, the red alert covered South Delhi, West Delhi, Northwest Delhi, Southwest Delhi, and New Delhi districts. Residents were advised to be cautious of potential waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic disruptions, and reduced visibility.
The alert is part of a broader spell of wet weather in the region. The IMD has been forecasting a continuation of rainfall activity in Delhi-NCR, with intermittent showers expected to persist throughout the week. The downpour has provided some relief from the heat but has also led to traffic snarls and waterlogged roads, a common occurrence during the monsoon season.
