Alyssa Healy’s Century Blitz Helps Australia Beat Bangladesh by a Lot
In Visakhapatnam on Thursday, Australia Women beat Bangladesh Women by 10 wickets in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Alyssa Healy, the captain of Australia, hit her second straight century.
The seven-time champions showed amazing discipline by keeping Bangladesh to only 198 runs for 9 wickets after being asked to bowl first. They then easily chased down the total in just 24.5 overs, due to Healy’s blistering 113 off 77 balls* and Phoebe Litchfield’s 84 off 72 balls*.
The win brought Australia closer to a spot in the semifinals and showed that they are still the best team in the tournament.
Healy and Litchfield Stop Bangladesh’s Attack
Healy, who had just gotten back into shape by scoring a record-breaking 142 in a chase of 331, looked like he couldn’t be stopped again. She hit 20 boundaries, driving, cutting, and pulling with power throughout the park.
Phoebe Litchfield, her opening partner, was a perfect fit for her captain, hitting 12 fours and a six to match her ferocity. Together, they made the Bangladesh assault look absolutely helpless.
Litchfield ended the game in style by hitting two straight boundaries off Fariha Trisna, finishing the chase in less than 25 overs.
Bangladesh’s spin-heavy approach, which many people think is their best feature, couldn’t stop Healy and Litchfield from hitting hard. The two Australians put up a 199-run partnership that never ended.
Bangladesh Struggles Even Though Mostary Fought Hard
Bangladesh chose to bat first, but they never got into a groove against an Australian bowling outfit that was very disciplined. The only good things about the innings were the openers, Rubya Haider and Shobana Mostary.
Mostary hit 66 runs off 80 balls (9 fours) without getting out, which was the greatest score by a Bangladeshi hitter against Australia in women’s cricket history. Haider, on the other hand, hit eight boundaries and scored 44 runs off 59 balls in a hurry. He showed off some beautiful drives through the covers and mid-off zone.
Bangladesh’s innings, on the other hand, didn’t have much momentum because wickets fell at regular intervals. After Haider was out by Ashleigh Gardner, no other batter was able to keep things steady.
Skipper Nigar Sultana (12 off 35) had a hard time before being stumped by Healy off Alana King. The middle and lower order fell apart immediately, with Shorna Akter, Ritu Moni, Fahima Khatun, and Rabeya Khan all leaving cheaply.
The Australian bowlers made the win possible.
Once again, Australia’s bowling team showed how balanced and accurate it is. The spin trio and seamers worked together to stop Bangladesh from scoring.
Alana King: 2 out of 18
2/41 Annabel Sutherland
Ashleigh Gardner: 2 out of 49
Georgia Wareham: 2 out of 22
The four bowlers took eight wickets, which meant that Bangladesh’s batters couldn’t speed up.
Champions March Ahead in Charge
With their overwhelming victory, Australia remain solidly on course for yet another semifinal berth. Alyssa Healy’s two centuries in a row have not only silenced her doubters, but they have also brought new life to Australia’s campaign.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, will have to quickly regroup if they want to save face in their last few games.
