Dubai (UAE), December 31: West Indies Women’s captain Hayley Matthews has re-entered the top 10 of the ICC Women’s Batting Rankings after scoring her seventh international ODI century. Her knock of 106 off 109 balls propelled her into a share of seventh place, with a rating of 652, putting her level with Australia’s Beth Mooney.
In the same match, Matthews also made a half-century, but a modest score of four in the third ODI saw her drop one place to third in the rankings, with 720 rating points, falling behind Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu (733 points).
Other notable performances in Vadodara saw significant ranking improvements. Jemimah Rodrigues climbed four spots to 22nd after scoring 29 and 52, while Richa Ghosh moved up seven places to 41st, following scores of 13 not out and 23 not out. Chinelle Henry’s half-century in the third ODI earned her a 21-spot rise, landing her in 65th place with 349 rating points.
On the bowling front, Deepti Sharma’s stellar performance, which included eight wickets across two matches—highlighted by her 6/31 in the third ODI—earned her a one-spot rise to fifth place, with a rating of 665. She is now closing in on the fourth spot held by South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp (677 rating points). Matthews also saw a two-place jump in the bowling rankings, moving to 7th with 616 rating points, surpassing Charlie Dean and Nahida Akter.
Despite their impressive efforts, neither Matthews nor Deepti Sharma made any progress in the All-Rounder Rankings, remaining in third and sixth positions, respectively, after the latest update.
Meanwhile, Henry’s all-round contributions resulted in a significant rise in the All-Rounder Rankings, as she moved up six spots to join Australia’s Megan Schutt in a tie for 27th position.
