Haryana Bids Farewell To Former CM Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala

The mortal remains of former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo, Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala, have been taken to Teja Khera, where his last rites will be conducted with full state honours at 3 pm today.

Statewide Mourning and Public Holiday

The Haryana government has declared a three-day state mourning from December 20 to 22 as a mark of respect for the departed leader. On Friday, the Directorate of School Education announced a holiday for all schools and state offices on December 21 to honour the former Chief Minister.

The notice stated, “The Haryana government has declared a public holiday in all state offices as a mark of respect to the departed soul. Accordingly, a holiday is declared in all schools of the state on December 21.”

Final Farewell

Aditya Chautala, nephew of Om Prakash Chautala, shared details about the funeral arrangements, saying, “His mortal remains have been brought to the farmhouse. From 8 am to 2 pm today, his mortal remains will be kept for people and party workers to pay their last respects.”

The funeral, set to take place at Teja Khera farm in Sirsa, will be conducted with state honours under the supervision of local authorities, including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Sirsa.

A Visionary Leader

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed profound grief over the loss of the veteran leader, describing him as a visionary statesman whose contributions shaped the politics of Haryana.

Paying tribute, CM Saini said, “With his demise, a chapter of Haryana politics has come to an end. His contribution to Haryana politics will always be remembered. Chautala ji’s personality was a symbol of simplicity and struggle.”
