The Haridwar district administration sealed five unregistered madrasas on Tuesday as part of an ongoing crackdown on non-compliant religious institutions. With this, the total number of sealed madrasas in the district has risen to 12.
📌 Key Developments:
🔹 Tehsildar Priyanka Rani confirmed that the madrasas were shut for operating without registration.
🔹 The Minority Welfare Department has issued notices requiring mandatory registration before reopening.
🔹 Earlier, two madrasas in Gandhi Khata (Shyampur police station area) were sealed on March 21.
🔹 Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed authorities to act against illegal madrasas and constructions.
🚨 Large-Scale Crackdown Across Uttarakhand
🔹 On March 16, the Dehradun administration sealed 43 allegedly illegal madrasas across different areas.
🔹 31 in Vikasnagar, 9 in Sadar, and 3 in Doiwala were shut down following an intelligence report.
🔹 Government claims of “abnormal” population growth in the Pachhadun region have raised concerns about demographic changes.
🔹 Bulldozers were used to clear alleged illegal encroachments.
🏛️ Government’s Stand:
According to a statement from CM Dhami’s office, the administration has been given a “free hand” to act against illegal activities under the guise of religion.
🔹 “Tampering with the culture, tradition, and geography of Uttarakhand will not be tolerated. No illegal activity will be allowed to flourish,” the official statement emphasized.
This decisive action has sparked discussions on religious institutions, demographic concerns, and governance in Uttarakhand. 🚨
