After India’s 21-run triumph over Oman on Friday, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was named the “Impact Player of the Match.” Pandya gave the medal to Dayanand Garani, the club’s training assistant, as a kind gesture to thank him for helping the team with their fitness and fielding drills.
India won after Oman put up a strong fight and almost pulled off a historic upset while trying to chase down 189 runs. Aamir Kaleem’s 64 runs off 46 balls and Hammad Mirza’s 51 runs off 33 balls helped Oman put up a fight. The second wicket stand of 93 runs put India’s dominance in danger. But Pandya’s brilliant grab at the boundary to get rid of Kaleem changed the game and led to India’s victory.
Dayanand Garani commented in a video from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), “Today’s match was a good one.” Hardik Pandya wins the Impact Player of the Match award, which is a source of pride and honor for everyone.
Pandya said, “We had a very good game as a group,” as he thought about the win and India’s unbeaten journey to the Super Four stage. It was incredibly hot, and we were put to the test. Everyone came and did their part well, though. It’s just another game on the 21st (Sunday against Pakistan), so let’s play like we always do. I want to give this to Daya. You keep this, Daya. These exercise drills are a big assistance for us.
