Hardeep Singh Puri Hits Back At Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari Over Indus Waters Treaty Remarks: “Enough Is Enough”

In a sharp rebuttal to recent comments made by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Saturday lashed out, urging Bhutto to “get his mental condition checked.”

Speaking to media, Puri said,

“Tell him to get his mental condition checked, what kind of statements he is giving. Enough is enough… We will no longer tolerate this. Now wait for a few days.”

His strong response comes amid rising India-Pakistan tensions following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. In its aftermath, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, a historic water-sharing agreement, which triggered provocative remarks from Bhutto-Zardari.

Addressing a rally in Sukkur on Friday, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari stated,

“The Modi government is unilaterally suspending the Indus Water Treaty… I give a clear message from the banks of the Indus: either our water will flow or your blood.”

Bhutto-Zardari also claimed that the Pakistani people would resist any move by India concerning the Indus waters.

Meanwhile, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also condemned Bhutto’s remarks, calling them “unfortunate” and labeling Pakistan as a “despondent country” obsessed with “spreading terror.”

Goyal said,

“Pakistan is a despondent country and they don’t have any priority apart from spreading terror. It is unfortunate for the world that there is a presence of such politicians in it. I am confident many Pakistani citizens themselves do not support such reckless statements.”

The suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty marks a significant escalation in India’s posture following repeated provocations. Officials have indicated that further measures could be announced soon if Pakistan continues with its belligerent rhetoric.
