H36 Citizens From Uttarakhand’s Haridwar Stranded In Iran Amid Escalating Tensions, Evacuation Efforts Underway

Haridwar (Uttarakhand) [India], June 21: At least 36 Indian citizens from Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district—mainly from Mangalore and nearby areas—are currently stranded in Iran amid rising tensions due to the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, district administration officials confirmed on Thursday.

Haridwar District Magistrate Mayur Dixit stated that the list of stranded individuals has been forwarded to higher authorities, and coordination with the Government of India is ongoing to facilitate their safe return.

“We have received a list of 36 such individuals and have shared the details with the concerned authorities. The Government of India is actively working on this and will ensure necessary measures are taken,” Dixit told ANI.

He expressed confidence that, as in previous situations, the Indian government will prioritize the safety and evacuation of its citizens from the conflict zone. “Just like earlier evacuations, the Government of India will try to bring back all our remaining citizens safely,” he added.

Most of the stranded citizens are reported to be from Mangalore and adjacent areas of Haridwar. Local intelligence units and state agencies are involved in tracking and verifying information, Dixit said.

According to officials, the data on stranded individuals was compiled through multiple sources, including family outreach, local surveys, and coordination between state and central agencies.

“For now, these are the confirmed cases. If anyone else comes forward or contacts us with more information, that will be addressed and escalated immediately. We encourage families or individuals needing help to contact the district administration or the nearest police station,” Dixit assured.
